Strider Patton

San Francisco

With everything I make I hope to create a trigger for experience - thought, feeling, or emotion. I believe that if we surround and expose ourselves to certain experiences we can transform ourselves.
I am a San Francisco based artist who has lived my life in the crossroads of art and altruism. Combining artistic practice with social awareness and compassion, I have been devoting my work toward how art can change the world. After earning a master's degree in anthropology and social change, I have been connecting the dots between culture, craft, story and meaning, creating unique experiences that invite observer reflection and participation.
Murals, sculpture, installation or fine art, I bring a multidisciplinary approach to my projects from my training as an anthropologist and self-taught practice as an artist. My work, at it’s core, is made to start conversation while being mindful of the human condition, and to tackle humanity's biggest questions: who are we, why are we here, and where are we going? I want my work to gently remind us of our shared humanity and that we are all one.

I believe in the good of the world, and I believe that art has unique way of bringing about thoughts, feelings, and emotions in people. That is what I hope to achieve with my art, my teaching, and my collaboration.

"As an artist, my work explores linear intention and organic abstraction. As an anthropologist, my work explores culture, identity, and being. Together I am a storyteller, navigating the frontiers of connection and creativity, folding experience into being by moving what I learn from my head to my heart and through my hands."
