Dave Eggers is a painter, sculptor, author, editor and publisher residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. For most of his youth, Dave Eggers was an aspiring painter, studying painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Illinois, and classical drawing techniques at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. After college, he spent time as a curator, art writer, designer and illustrator, though he is best known as an author of books including The Circle, A Hologram for the King, and What Is the What. For many years, he has designed books for his San Francisco publishing house, McSweeney’s, and his design work has been awarded various book-design prizes. He is also the co-founder of 826 National, a network of non-profit writing and tutoring centers across the country, including San Francisco’s 826 Valencia, and Voice of Witness, a series of books that use oral history to illuminate human rights crises around the world.

Actively engaged in art practice, Eggers had a solo gallery show at Electric Works, San Francisco, in 2010, called «It Is Right to Draw Their Fur.» In 2015 Eggers had his first solo museum exhibition at the Nevada Museum of Art called «The Insufferable Throne of God» curated by Joanne Northrup. Concurrent with his show at the Jules Maeght Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit is presenting a large exhibition of Eggers’s drawings. Dave Eggers is represented by Electric Works.
