I have long used stories as the inspiration in my work. For quite some time, this meant using actual book pages as my material, but for the last few years I've been working with tape and basing the pieces on stories more in the abstract. The tree rings series came from my fascination with the way in which the story of the life of the tree is revealed so visually - telling of weather and fire, years of little growth and years of tremendous growth and more.
