Shimmering Summer - landscape with poppies and pheasants

A landscape painting of two pheasants flying over a field of poppies and other wild flowers. There is a suggestion of green summer trees and a lake shimmering behind the birds and the scene is set in early morning light. It was inspired by seeing pheasants near reservoir where I live in East Sussex (they are beautiful when they fly although they are are often too stupid to remember that they can). This painting is semi abstract, art nouveau in style and is striking because of the use of red and green complimenting each-other and the fact that the pheasants are painted in a fairly realistic style against a quite abstract background
