A large 36 x 48 x 1.5 inches semi abstract landscape painting of a magical golden tinged forest. This painting is art nouveau and abstract in style and shows a view though trees to the light behind them. The trees are golden, green, lilac and wine coloured. Hidden between two of them is a small white horse who looks back over her shoulder at us, wondering if we will follow. I walk alot in forests and they fascinate me as they scare me but intrigue me at the same time. There is a different atmosphere in any forest or woodland you enter and I often feel I am being watched in them. Probably because I am. Usually by deer or birds but sometimes perhaps by something more magical. The painting was made with thick and blended paint and was glazed with golden yellow once dry to give the effect of sunlight. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, no frame needed.
I am an artist based in Sussex, England and I paint large landscape paintings and seascape paintings in oil on canvas. My painting style is not always easy to define but has elements of abstract, Impressionist, Expressionist and possibly some Art-Nouveau. Although I have a fine art degree in sculpture (acquired at Brighton in 1983), I am largely self-taught as a painter.
