Grounded began as a late-night experimentation in my garage studio. Sometimes I literally take colors from the tubes and just squeeze them onto the canvas and start to play. Color, intuition, and music are my guides. I spray, splash, drip color, and move the canvas around to create the effects that I like. Later I add structure by glazing (adding thin translucent color) over part of the canvas.

I work intuitively, focusing on the joyful, passionate and celebratory aspects of color. Using my breath and large motions, I focus on letting go, being present, and infusing the work with spontaneity. I am currently enjoying the challenge of chance splashes meeting intentional mark making and composition. I splash, drip, scrape, add and subtract materials and paint from the surface, and otherwise torture the canvas until something I like appears.
