Through a process of masking the entire surface of the painting, Goulet creates layers of hard edge shapes on top of vibrant color fields without knowing how they will effect each other. In the spirit of experimentation, recognizable imagery can result. Here is an example of indirect subject matter brought about by an inventive painting process.

Zachary Goulet

Zack G. Goulet (b. 1987 Santa Barbara, CA) is a Chicago-based artist who received his BFA in Painting from the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul Minnesota in 2012. He is a studio assistant for Nick Cave, who has collected several of his works and has sold work to McHenry County College for their Permanent Art Collection.
