This picture is part of my Abstract by Nature series. I seek out and photograph very simple natural shapes - in this case, one single desert cactus - and combine multiple images to create organic and evocative shapes and colors. I'm always concerned about the balance between traditional photography and computer manipulation; this series comes as close to an ideal balance as any I’ve ever done.
Print sizes refer to paper dimensions, not image dimensions. Prints on 17" x 22" paper are made with minimum 1" margins and are open editions. Larger prints are made with 2" margins and are limited editions. All prints are made by me and are signed front and back, and dated. Limited edition prints come with a signed certificate of authenticity.
Ed Freeman grew up in Boston and majored in French at Oberlin College in Ohio. After college, he worked as a performing musician, arranger and record producer on dozens of pop and jazz records, including Carly Simon's debut album and Don McLean's "American Pie." Starting twenty-five years ago, Freeman gradually transitioned to his other great love, photography.
