A fictional combination of bureaucratic office, investigative government agency, and academic archive, Jenny Odell’s Recology residency project, The Bureau of Suspended Objects, researched and documented dump finds at www.suspended-objects.org. Odell’s work turns trashed objects into dynamic repositories of resources, time and energy, demonstrating that even the most cheap, disposable item has a vast and complex history.

The Artist in Residence Program at Recology San Francisco is a one-of-a-kind program established in 1990 to encourage the conservation of natural resources and instill a greater appreciation for the environment and art in children and adults.
